A secret obsession

Today Meredith and I head out to Six Flags Great Adventure as part of our artistically stimulating summer job. Am I most excited about going on rides? Riding on a bus for over two hours to New Jersey? No. I am the most excited about the prospect of eating Dippin' Dots.

I LOVE Dippin' Dots. I can't quite remember how the obsession started. I remember a vending machine that dispensed packages of dots at the old Emery Bay movie theatre. My sister and I used to get them every time we went to an Oakland A's game. There were stands hawking them in Santa Monica. However it happened, whenever I see them, I am powerless against them. It's like a weird sickness - but much less detrimental than say, heroin, or really expensive shoes, as they are fairly cheap and not that common.

Last year, on our camp trip to Six Flags, my co-group leader and I blatantly broke the "no spending money until 6pm rule" and let all of our kids purchase Dippin' Dots, mostly because we wanted some ourselves. It was totally worth it. I'll let you know if I'm a crazy daredevil rule breaker again this year.

Oh and my favorite Dippin' Dots flavor? Mint Chocolate mixed with Banana Split. It sounds gross but it's crazy good. Try it. I dare you!

Um, Lena, you don't have to go farther than Manhattan to get Dippin Dots. They've got em at a stand near the Circle Line Tours along the Hudson River piers, at like 43rd Street.

They don't always have a lot of flavors, though.

Also, I thought by this point in the 21st century ALL ice cream would be dippin dots. Pretty disappointing.

So i guess your camera is working again. What a good picture of dipping dots! They don't do it for me. I'm more of a Haggen Das kinda person. I also really like gellato and sorbet!

Perhaps you've truly changed, because if I recall, dippin dots did not pass those lips.

I seem to recall shaved ice instead?

I had soft serve with a little hot fudge sauce. It was amazing.

That's true, Mer. I had shaved ice instead. It was really hot, I was kind of dehydrated and a big cup of ice sounded really good.

I love Dippin' Dots too! I used to eat them every time I went to Raging Waters. Ever heard of that water park located in San Dimas, CA?

Btw, I recently started on blogspot and would've told you about it, but I don't think I have a current e-mail address.
