Not today

I haven't been cooking much lately. Zack has been working a lot and it's cold out - two things that just make me want to sit on my couch and not move. Or if I do have to move, it's just to eat salad out of a bag and Annie's Microwavable Mac and Cheese. When one has a blog devoted to cooking and watching theatre, this makes for some empty posting. But, never fear, this week I have tickets to a show and food in my refrigerator. In the meantime, here are some singing vegetables.

And so, I'm offering this simple phrase....

It's that time of year, folks. The ingredients have been put away....


Festive cookies and fudge have been made.....


Elana has complained that she doesn't read my blog because she's not on it anymore (Ha! This'll show her).......


And my presents are all set to go (don't you wish you were getting this for Christmas? Well, some of you are).


Merry Christmas! Happy Hannukah! Merry Festivus and all the rest. I'll leave you with some holiday spirit in the form of the Muppets and John Denver. It doesn't get any better than that!

I'm tired of being the last New Yorker left in New York City

Everyone I know has gone summering somewhere interesting already - be it Minnesota, the Pocanos, Los Angeles or Paris, I've had enough jealousy. I've flown the Big Apple to spend some quality time in Oakland, CA, eating, seeing theatre and watching Obama speak on television with my dad (Zack didn't get to come.....he has a job).

Prepare yourselves for some great posts on the Zuni Cafe, High Tea at the Fairmont, and the difference in ballpark cuisines from Brooklyn to Oakland. Until then, watch this video and think of the democratic process in light of our ongoing Democratic National Convention.

Grrrrrrrrrrr....

I'm very grumpy. The subway broke late at night and I had to take a cab home again. I don't have the money for these kinds of things. So instead of blogging about anything of substance, I've decided to just put up this video of the Muppets because Muppets make me happy.

Another Theatre Post (sort of)

There will be no cooking tonight, because I have tickets to see South Pacific at Lincoln Center Theatre. I have a special attachment to this show because it is the first show that I ever performed in an Equity house (ah, my first show as an Equity Membership Candidate....how that has helped my career.....remain in a permanent fledgling middle ground). But I have some great memories from that show - I don't think I'll ever be able to wear a seaweed bra with a pineapple hat ever again.

Sadly, I could not find any video or pictures from that show (they must be in a box in CA somewhere), so I leave you with this somewhat related Muppet show clip. Enjoy! I'll post my thoughts tomorrow.
